About Us

Nothing can stop a honey badger !!

In the heart of the picturesque countryside surrounding Brooksville, Florida, lies a haven for bees and a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts: Honey Badgers Bee Farm. Named with a playful nod to the resilient and fearless nature of honey badgers, this family-owned apiary was founded by Derrick Jerome, whose love for beekeeping and dedication to sustainable farming practices define their enterprise.

The story of Honey Badgers Bee Farm began when Derrick, a passionate environmentalist with a deep respect for local ecosystems, decided to turn their backyard hobby into a full-fledged business. With backgrounds in biology and a shared fascination for the intricate workings of honeybee colonies, they embarked on a journey to create a haven where bees could thrive while producing some of the finest honey in the Sunshine State.

As his vision grew, he was joined by two more "badgers": Andy, Derrick’s brother, and William, their father. Andy brought his expertise in pest control management, ensuring the farm's operations ran smoothly and efficiently. William (Chef Pappa), with his extensive knowledge of traditional farming techniques and Cooking.

Situated on 5 acres of pristine land dotted with wildflowers and natural ponds, Honey Badgers Bee Farm embodies the essence of sustainable agriculture. The Badgers meticulously tend to their hives, ensuring each colony has access to abundant natural forage that includes native wildflowers, and orange blossoms

Driven by their commitment to environmental stewardship, the Badgers practice organic beekeeping methods that prioritize the health and well-being of their bees. They refrain from using synthetic pesticides or antibiotics, opting instead for natural hive management techniques that promote resilience and vitality among their colonies. They practiced organic hive management techniques, fostering healthy colonies that not only produced superior honey but also played a crucial role in pollinating local crops and preserving the region's biodiversity.

The result is a selection of artisanal honey varieties that reflect the terroir of Brooksville's lush landscape. From the delicate citrus notes of their orange blossom honey to the robust and earthy flavors of their wildflower blend, each jar of Honey Badgers Bee Farm honey tells a story of craftsmanship and a deep connection to the land.

Among their many achievements, The Honey Badgers developed a range of patent-pending honey flavors and beekeeping inventions. These unique flavors, inspired by the local flora of Brooksville and their own creative experimentation, set their honey apart from the competition. Their inventions aimed at improving bee health and honey production efficiency further demonstrated their dedication to innovation and sustainability.

The Badgers developed an All-in-one Honey Tea that easy to make by adding one spoonful to 8oz of hot water and cold all-natural honey teas available all around the Tampa Bay area. Their innovative honey spoon makes singles of honey portable. Along with our smoked pepper and garlic honey and the new Badger Dust dry rub, they have got you covered with their innovative products.

Their innovative approach to beekeeping and honey production garnered international attention. In 2023, Honey Badgers Bee Farm was awarded 2nd place in innovation at the prestigious World Tea Expo. This recognition cemented their status as industry leaders and showcased their commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable beekeeping.

Beyond honey production, Honey Badgers Bee Farm serves as a beacon of education and community engagement. The Badger family hosts guided tours and workshops for visitors eager to learn about beekeeping, pollinator conservation, and sustainable farming practices. They collaborate with local schools and environmental organizations to raise awareness about the vital role bees play in our food system and ecosystem health.

As they look to the future, the Badgers envision Honey Badgers Bee Farm not just as a business, but as a hub for sustainable agriculture and environmental advocacy in the Brooksville community. Through their dedication to ethical beekeeping, quality craftsmanship, and a steadfast commitment to the environment, they invite others to join them in preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity that make Brooksville, Florida, truly exceptional.
